WHAT is a FALAFEL

HISTORY

The origin of falafel is controversial. A widely held theory is that the dish was invented in Egypt about 1000 years ago by Egyptians. As Alexandria is a port city, it was possible to export the dish and name to other areas in the Middle East. The dish later migrated northwards to the Levant, where chickpeas replaced the fava beans. It has been speculated, with no concrete evidence, that its history may go back to Pharaonic Egypt. Other theories propose that it came from the Arabs or Turks; or that the chickpea-based food came from Yemen.

Middle East

Falafel grew to become a common form of street food or fast food in much of the Middle East, especially in the Levant and Egypt. The croquettes are regularly eaten as part of meze. During Ramadan, falafel balls are sometimes eaten as part of the iftar, the meal that breaks the daily fast after sunset.  Falafel became so popular that McDonald's for a time served a "McFalafel" in its breakfast menu all over Egypt. Falafel is still popular with Egyptians, who eat it on a regular basis along with ful medames and even cook large volumes during religious holidays. Debates over the origin of falafel have sometimes devolved into political discussions about the relationship between Arabs and Israelis] In modern times, falafel has been considered a national dish in Egypt, also in Palestine, and of Israel. Resentment exists amongst many Palestinians for what they see as the appropriation of their dish by Israelis. Additionally, the Lebanese Industrialists' Association attempted to claim Protected Designated Origin status, partly to prevent Israeli use of the word.
Falafel is eaten by Mizrahi Jews who originally resided in Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Jordan, etc. Later, it was adopted by early Ashkenazi Jewish olim to pre-state Israel. Due to its being entirely plant based, it is considered pareve under Jewish dietary laws and gained acceptance with Ashkenazi Jews to whom it had been unfamiliar, because it could be eaten with meat or dairy meals.

North America

In North America, prior to the 1970s, falafel was found only in Middle Eastern neighborhoods and restaurants.Today, the dish is a common and popular street food in many cities throughout North America

What is a MUKBANG

MUKBANG

"Will Reviewbrah Ever do MUKBANG" ?

WHAT is a MUKBANG" ???

A Mukbang is a Live Broadcast, often on Youtube, where the Host Eats massive amounts of food while they interact with their audience. Mukbangs are usually broadcast through streaming Webcast on platforms such as Youtube, Twitch, and Afreeca. Mukbang was started in Korea in 2008 ... Food Stuffs such as Pizza, Burgers, King Crab, Ramen Noodles, Pasta, Hotdogs, Lobsters, Fried Chicken, and just about any food imaginable are eatin in Mukbangs. The Food is consumed in front of a camera for an audience that either pays or not.

Mukbang is a Korean Word that means Eat & Broadcast

Mukbang hosts are known as Broadcast Jockeys.

Other forms of Mukbang include COOK-BANG which are Cooking and Eating Shows.

As a cultural practice, Mukbang challenges the normal Korean Way of Life of Healthy Eating practices on a daily basis. Mukbang is not a healthy practice.

Of course eating is part of everyone's everyday life, we must eat to survive. Mukbangers have taking eating to another level. One might say, extreme levels.

With a Table Full of Food, and a Video Camera Mukbangers Eat with their Audience. They broadcast themselves eating on platforms like Youtube , Twitch, and Afreeca.TV ...

When broadcasting a Mukbang Show, the host must make sure that their audience is engaged, and that they get involved in the action, as they talk to their audience, make Jokes, Funny Facial Expressions, and eating noises like; Crunching, Slurping, Chewing, and Enjoying the Food in general.

Large Food manufacturers are using techniques similar to Mukbanging, showing people eating to advertise their products. You might say watching a Mukbang is like watching a McDonald's commercial. Mukbanger's have brought eating to a higher level. They do not eat normally, they must eat in the extreme or novel ways.

Some Mukbang videos feature the hosts eating massive amounts of Food, or they might feature the host eating extremely Spicy Food, that is much Hotter than most people could ever dream of eating. They couldn't, but the host can. People actually enjoy watching the host in pain from so much hot chili peppers in the extreme.

What are your favorite Mukbang's?

Dan gets a Cuban Sandwich

MOFONGO

At CASTILLO d' JAGUA

LES

LATIN NEW YORK

SANDWICH CUBANO

Yes, Dapper Dan the Food Man gets a Sandwich Cubano at his Favorite Latin restaurant in           NEW YORK, IL Castillo d Jagua on Rivington Street on the Lower East Side of New York City.

"I haven't had one in a while. I've been dying for one, and couldn't wait any longer. So after my Chiropractor visit, I headed over to the Lower East Side, to one of my favorite places ever to get my beloved Cubano Sandwich."

"I've been Eating these Bad Boys for Years. I used to get just about one a week when I was living on Avenue A, and just had to shoot down 10 blocks to Essex Street to get one. I used to love a place on Essex Street, that no longer exist. But I'm happy to say that El Castillo d' Jagua is still there. I've been going there for more than 30 years, and I went back today, and was happy to see it still open. Most of the other old Dominican and Puerto Rican Joints have since closed."

When I sat down, the waitress gave me a menu, and I told her, "I know what I want. Can I have a Sandwich Cubano please," I asked her. She smile and said yes, so my order was in. All I had to do was wait. I was pretty sure that it would still be as good as ever, but I really wasn't sure. I think it was 3 or 4 years since I was here last, and it was good then. It was always good. These guys know their stuff, especially when it comes to making Cuban Sandwiches. So I waited. While I was waiting, I gave my brother Michael a call in Texas. A few minutes later my Cubano came. "Yee-ha! Dam it looked good. I couldn't wait." I bit in. "MMmummmm, Yeahh Baby! It was good. Good as ever. In fact, it was near perfect, and I was one happy camper.

"Yes Boys & Girls, this Baby was good. Better than good actually. It was Super Delicious I'd have to say. So, rating it, I'd have to give this Bad Boy a solid 9.9 on a Scale of 1 to 10. Wow, that's pretty dam good! A 9.9, it really doesn't get much better than that. But it was well deserving. The sandwich was just about perfectly made. These guys are consistent. They have to be, or their loyal customers wouldn't come back if they weren't."

YES IT'S ALWAYS GOOD HERE

Shake Shack Burgers Not as Good

SHAKE SHACK

BURGER

"NOT as GOOD as It USED to BE"

SHAKE SHACK BURGRES NOT as GOOD as they used to be?

Review by Dapper Dan "The FOOD MAN"

FOR NEW YORK EATS "GOin IN FOOD REVIEWS"

Yes, Dan says, "he really loves Shake Shack," but he feels, since Shake Shack has gotten so Big, the quality and taste of their Burgers is Not as Good as They Used to Be."

Dan was at the SHAKE SHACK on Varick Street in Greenwich Village New York, which opened near his house in 2018. Dan says, "I had a Burger here last year, when they first opened this location, and I was Supremely Disappointed. Unlike #Reviewbrah My Day was Not Ruined, but yes I was not Happy. That particular Burger last year was terrible. It was the worst Shake Shack Burger that I'd ever had. In fact, before that day, Shake Shack Burgers that I'd had, were all excellent, tasty little Burgers, I Loved them all, especially at the original Shake Shack on Madison Avenue and 23rd Street inside Madison Park. The Burgers were always Great!"

"Well, that time last year, my Shake Shack Burger wasn't very good. It was bad in fact. But here I am, giving them another shot. Hey, they were good every time except that one time, so here I am, back once again."

"Well, I ate it, and what did I think. Well, pretty good, and definitely much Better than last time, but not up to what they used to be. Yes, I have to say, Shake Shack has gone down. They are Not as Good as They Used to be, which before, for me anyway, they were always excellent. Now, not as much, sorry to say Shake Shack, but if you want to get Big, and make tons more money, you're not going to be as good as when you just had one shop. That's the trade-off, quality for Money"

"Well, I must say, it wasn't bad. It was good, so I'll say on a Scale of 1 to 10, I'm going to give this Shake Shack Burger a 8.2 out of Ten. Before, I had rated the Shake Shack Burger a solid 9,2 .. Now they go down to 8.2 .. I'm probably being a little generous, but that's my verdict for now, 8.2 for the Burger at Shake Shack."

EATING at JOHN'S PIZZERIA

GREENWICH VILLAGE

John's of Bleecker Street was founded in 1929 by Italian immigrant John Sasso. John's was Originally established on Sullivan Street, in the Heart of Greenwich Village. After losing his lease on Sullivan Street, John Sasso dismantled his original coal fired brick oven and moved it to 278 Bleecker Street where he continued to run and grow his business and refine his pizza recipe to perfection. Sasso ran his business until 1954 when he sold the pizzeria to the Vesce Brothers. Augustine (Chubby) Vesce bought the business from his brothers and he continued to own and operate John's pizzeria until he passed away in 1984, passing his legacy on. . . John's is still family owned and operated and we are honored to have the opportunity to continue serving our world famous Pizza. The "Hallmarks" of John's of Bleecker St. are the coal fired brick ovens that churn out hundreds of crispy pizza's daily. It's a different world than it was in 1929, but we are still making the same traditional coal fired pizza in the oven that started it all back on Sullivan Street.  Enjoy the old-school ambiance, original wooden booths sentimentally etched by our loyal customers, the black and white art deco floors worn by time, turn of the century tin ceilings and faded murals tell tale of a bygone era. Sit back, relax, enjoy the smell of simmering tomatoes and hot pizza, feel the warmth and camaraderie, hear the laughter and conversation of happy diners and you feel like you are home again, somewhere familliar, comfortable, affordable, family centered and "ORIGINAL". The world has changed, but we haven't. We are still The "Original" John's Pizzeria on Bleecker St. . .

NEW YORK'S BEST COFFEE

"By FAR" !!!

PORTO RICO IMPORTING Co.

GREENWICH VILLAGE NEW YORK

"The Best Coffee in NewYork," says Dapper Dan The Food Man for New York Eats. I Love this place. It's an Italian-American owned and run business in Greenwich Village, New York, that's been in operation Since 1907, when Greenwich Village was pretty much an all Italian neighborhood, made up of Italian immigrants from mostly Southern Italy, Sicilians, Neapolitans, and people from Calabria, as well as a good representation of people from Genoa, Italy, like the Raffettos's who own another 100 year old plus Italian Food shop in Greenwich Village. Rafetto Pasta Co. around the block from Porto Rico Coffee, opened their doors a year before, in 1906, and have been making homemade Ravioli and other pasta ever since. There's also Mont'es Trattoria on Macdougal Street that has been operating Since 1917.

Anwya, back to Porto Rico Coffee Roasters import bags of green coffee beens from all around the World, and roast them in house to make, what is without a doubt, "The Best Coffee" in all of New York. Basta!

Michael Jackson Chicken Sandwich Popeyes BillyJean

POPEYES CHICKEN SANDWICH

"GOin IN"

DAPPER DAN

The FOOD MAN is GOin IN !

GOin to a POPEYES CHICKEN SANDWICH

Once again at McDONALD'S

WHAT McDONALDS with a POPEYE'S CHICKEN SANDWICwH

"I Don't Get IT?"

Well, Dan says, that usually, the dining rooms at McDonalds tend to be much Nicer than those at Popeye's. Much nicer, so Dapper Dan gets his Chicken Sandwich at Popeye's, walks over to Micky D's, and proceeds to do a relaxed, leisurely review of Popeye's Chicken Sandwich at a McDonald's of all place. Radical, wouldn't you say? Well, that's Dapper Dan for you.

Anyway, Dan says he "Just Loves the Popeye's new Chicken Sandwich, It's da Bomb" !!!

He sits back in a comfy booth, listening to Billy Jean by Michael Jackson, playing on the sound system at McDonald's. "Good music," he says, "none of that Shitty Ass Rap Hip Hop Crap, but good old R&B," the kind of music Dapper Dan likes. Especially when he's eating. He also loves Pop Music, good ol Rock & Roll, and classic standard singers, like; Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Jerry Vale, Nat King Cole and others. Anyway, Dan says thanks to McDonalds for not playing andy crappy Rap music while he was eating his beloved Chicken Sandwich from Popeye's, it made the experience that much better.

So, Dan Loved the Sandwich.

He says, "It's Dam Tasty. You have any awesome high-quality buttered Brioche Bun, slathered with a little Mayonnaise, 3 Dill Pickles, and of course, that dam tasty fried Chicken Breast that's cooked to perfection," Dan states.

"It's thick, crispy, juice, and cooked just right. I Love it" !!!

Wow, can't get much better than that.

"Yes I love this Bad Boy. So on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm gonna give this Baby a solid 9.5 out of 10"

"It's da Friggin Bomb! And I just love it to pieces"

"Go out and get one yourself."

You Gonna Love it too !
